86x86mm Switch Box for PVC Trunking in Thailand: One Gang, Two Gang and Adjustable Lug Options
Walk into any electrical wholesaler in Bangkok and the switch plate is almost always the same size. Thai building stock settled on the 86x86mm faceplate, so a 86x86mm switch box for PVC trunking is what contractors expect to find.
What changes is what sits behind that plate. A Bangkok condo carries cable in surface PVC trunking, a Rayong factory pulls it through rigid conduit, and a shophouse renovation does both. The same 86x86mm face mounts on a trunking box, a conduit box or a two gang PVC junction box, depending on where the cable travels.
Start with gang count. A one gang switch box with adjustable lug serves one switch or socket, while a two gang switch box with adjustable lug carries two side by side, the layout most hotel rooms and workstations use. Wholesalers still quote inch sizing, so these items are also ordered as a 3x3 switch box and a 3x6 switch box.
The adjustable lug saves time on site. The lug slides in its slot, so the installer levels the box after plastering instead of shimming it with offcuts. On tiled or uneven walls that keeps the faceplate flat, and one box size serves several plate depths.
Then match the body to the cable route. A two gang switch box for PVC trunking has knockouts and a base shaped to clip onto surface runs, while a rigid 86x86mm switch box for PVC pipe takes solvent-welded conduit through spigot entries. Where a run must be joined or turned, a two gang PVC junction box gives the volume junctions need.
G AND N FORTUNE LIMITED has spent 20 years exporting plastic wiring systems and moulds these boxes in the same plant as the trunking and conduit they join. The factory runs 35 extrusion lines for trunking, conduit and profiles plus 55 injection molding machines for boxes and lugs, so box and trunking come off matched tooling.
Production follows British Standard (BS) requirements, and containers leave regularly for Thailand, Nigeria, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Malta, as full loads or mixed orders that put switch boxes, trunking and conduit in one sailing.
For a Thai order, state gang count, box type, lug type and colour — white, ivory or grey — then add about ten percent for breakage and layout changes. Confirm the box depth suits your plate range, since shallow boxes crowd the conductors behind a two gang device.
